Grow your own tea. These plants are cuttings from a former Lipton owned plantation. This camellia species is very easy to grow and cost much less than our grafted camellias. We suggest beginning with at least 4 plants if you want to try your hand at making tea. This small leaf form, tends to be vigorous, upright, easily established, thus making a nice 4 to 5 ft. hedge.  Custom orders are available if large quanties are needed for extra long hedge plantings. This variety is the plant from which green, black, white, and oolong tea are made. Each type (green vs. black) is made using different drying methods. Tea leaves can be harvested about every two weeks during active growing season, but a hedge may be needed to supply a family with a daily supply. Fresh made tea is much better than tea that has been stored for a few months. Green tea contains caffeine and it has been used to increase alertness, cancer prevention, to lower cholesterol, and to prevent-delay Parkinson's disease. All tea is made from the same plant, just a different technique for types of tea.
